Industrial buyers in Kadi and Mehsana often begin with the rate per kilogram. That is a useful quote detail, but it does not by itself show what a boiler will spend to deliver useful heat. Compare the current price basis, batch GCV, freight, applicable taxes and measured equipment efficiency. This guide explains the calculation and the questions to resolve before comparing offers. BBI's published ex-factory bulk price range for biomass briquettes is ₹6–₹14/kg; a current written quotation is needed for a specific order.

What Does the Published Price Include?

The ₹6–₹14/kg range is an indicative published ex-factory bulk range, not a delivered quotation or a guaranteed rate for every grade and order. The applicable price depends on the product and quantity being quoted and the validity stated in the written offer. Freight, taxes and unloading may be separate; check each line rather than assuming it is included. Ask whether two supplier quotes use the same price basis, delivery point and specification before comparing their totals.

What Drives the Price of White Coal?

Compare the written terms and product information behind each price. The product name alone may not describe the same batch, delivery scope or commercial conditions.

Feedstock and batch specification

Feedstock can affect the batch's measured properties. BBI's 90 mm briquettes are specified at GCV 3800–4200 Kcal/kg, moisture below 10%, ash below 10% (typically 2–8%, depending on feedstock) and sulphur below 0.1%. These are BBI specifications, confirmed by the batch lab report available on request; they are not a government certification. Ask for the report for the lot being offered and check its date, batch identification, test method and reporting basis.

Ash and Moisture

BBI's specified moisture and ash limits are useful comparison points, but the actual operational effect depends on the delivered batch, boiler and ash-handling setup. Do not convert an ash percentage directly into a promised cleaning interval or cost saving. Record the site's own ash quantity, handling effort and disposal terms during any evaluation.

Quantity and contract terms

BBI's minimum order quantity is 25 MT. Standard bulk contracts are 50 MT per month, and large-volume contracts are 200+ MT per month. Confirm the quantity, product, price validity, order schedule and any price-review terms in writing. These commercial tiers do not guarantee a particular price or uninterrupted availability.

Freight and delivery point

An ex-factory price does not establish the freight to your plant. Request freight and delivery terms for the actual destination, vehicle quantity and unloading arrangement. Compare the full delivered cost; do not assume that a nearby supplier always has the lowest total cost.

Compare Cost per Million Kcal of Useful Heat

To compare fuels fairly, use the same energy unit and a consistent basis. For a first estimate, calculate the cost per million Kcal of useful heat as:

Delivered price per kg × 1,000,000 ÷ (GCV in Kcal/kg × measured efficiency as a decimal)

  1. Use a batch GCV from a lab report and confirm that the compared results use the same reporting basis.
  2. Use the actual delivered price per kg, including the freight and tax components included in your comparison.
  3. Use a measured efficiency appropriate to the equipment and operating period. If you do not have one, mark the result as an estimate and show the assumption.
  4. Compare the result with the same method for the current fuel, then account separately for handling, ash and equipment costs that apply at your site.

Illustrative calculation, not a quotation

The table uses an assumed GCV of 4000 Kcal/kg and an assumed efficiency of 80%. It treats the prices shown as delivered prices for illustration only. Replace both assumptions with your batch report, actual quote and measured operating data; the figures are not a forecast of savings.

Assumed delivered price (₹/kg)Cost per million Kcal of useful heat (₹)
61,875
82,500
103,125
123,750
144,375

At the same price and efficiency, a lower GCV increases the fuel quantity in this calculation; a higher GCV decreases it. Actual useful heat depends on the equipment and operating conditions, so a spreadsheet comparison is a screening tool rather than a performance guarantee.

Comparing with Coal Honestly

Use the delivered coal price, its batch GCV and an efficiency measured for the relevant equipment. Coal grades vary, and a higher-GCV coal supplies more heat per kilogram; white coal is not a one-to-one replacement for every coal grade or boiler. Compare the useful-heat estimate, then review handling, storage, ash management, fuel-feed requirements and the plant's own permits or customer specifications separately. Indian coal is generally described as having 25–45% ash by the Ministry of Coal via PIB, but use the actual coal batch information when available. Do not assume a fuel switch automatically changes a site's emissions status or regulatory obligations. The fuel cost calculator can organize your own inputs.

Volume, MOQ and Contract Tiers

Order tierQuantityWhat to confirm
Minimum order25 MTWhether this quantity fits the site's planned evaluation and storage
Standard bulk contract50 MT per monthMonthly requirement, delivery schedule and written price terms
Large-volume contract200+ MT per monthCapacity, schedule, product specification and remedies in the agreement

A 25 MT order is BBI's minimum, not a universally suitable trial size. Before placing one, ask the boiler OEM or a qualified engineer to review fuel suitability and estimate how the quantity fits the plant's demand, storage, receiving and safe-handling arrangements. Agree in advance what operating data will be recorded and who will assess it. A trial should not bypass site safety procedures or approval requirements.

Questions to Resolve Before Ordering

  • Is the offer ex-factory or delivered, and what are the destination, freight, taxes and unloading terms?
  • What product specification, diameter, quantity and batch does the quote cover?
  • Can the supplier share a batch lab report and identify its test basis and method?
  • What sampling and discrepancy-resolution process will both parties follow?
  • How long is the quote valid, and what price-review terms apply to a contract?
  • What order confirmation, dispatch window and receiving arrangements are agreed in writing?
  • Can a factory visit be arranged by appointment if a site inspection is part of your procurement process?

Keep the written quotation, specification, batch report, purchase order and delivery records together. This gives procurement, accounts and boiler teams the same reference if a difference arises between the quoted and received product or quantity. Common Buyer Questions

What is BBI's white coal price per kg?

The published ex-factory bulk range is ₹6–₹14/kg for biomass briquettes. Ask for a current written quote for your product, quantity and delivery point.

Is white coal cheaper than coal?

There is no single answer for every site. Compare delivered prices, batch GCV and measured equipment efficiency, then include relevant handling and operating costs using your own records.

What is the minimum order quantity?

BBI's minimum order quantity is 25 MT. Standard bulk contracts are 50 MT per month, and large-volume contracts are 200+ MT per month.

Can I get a lab report before ordering?

A batch lab report is available on request. Confirm that the report relates to the offered batch and review its test basis with your technical team.

Does the price change during the year?

Each quotation states its validity and any applicable review terms. If you are entering a contract, record the agreed process for price changes rather than relying on an assumed market practice.

A useful comparison starts with a current quote, batch-specific GCV and your site's measured efficiency. Contact our team with your required quantity and delivery location to discuss BBI specifications, availability and written pricing terms.
