What are biomass pellets?
Biomass pellets are compressed cylindrical fuel units made from agricultural waste, wood residues, and crop by-products. They are a carbon-neutral alternative to coal, offering 4200–4600 Kcal/kg calorific value with less than 2% ash content. They are widely used in industrial boilers, furnaces, and thermal power plants.
Do you manufacture and supply biomass briquettes as well?
Yes! Along with high-GCV agro-waste pellets, Bharat Bio Industries manufactures and supplies premium biomass briquettes (typically 70mm to 90mm diameter). Briquettes are excellent for manual-fired boilers, brick kilns, gasifiers, and traditional furnaces that require long-lasting, slow-burning solid biofuel, whereas pellets are optimized for automated boiler systems.
What is the difference between agro-waste pellets and wood pellets?
Agro-waste pellets (or agricultural pellets) are manufactured from agricultural residues like cotton stalks, groundnut shells, mustard husks, and crop waste. Wood pellets are made from wood sawdust, shavings, and timber residues. Agro-waste pellets are highly cost-effective and abundant in agricultural states like Gujarat, making them the preferred choice for large-scale industrial boilers, whereas wood pellets are typically used in domestic heating or low-ash specialized setups.
How do biomass pellets compare to biomass briquettes?
Biomass pellets are smaller (6mm or 8mm) and highly uniform, which makes them ideal for automatic screw feeding systems in modern industrial boilers. Biomass briquettes are much larger (typically 70mm to 90mm) and are generally fed manually or used in large-grate boilers. Pellets offer higher combustion efficiency, stable heat output, and lower manual labor requirements.
What raw materials are used to make biomass pellets?

How are biomass pellets manufactured?
Biomass pellets are made through a 4-step process: (1) Feedstock sourcing from agro-waste, (2) Drying to <10% moisture, (3) Grinding to uniform particle size, and (4) High-pressure extrusion into cylindrical pellets. No additives or binders are used, making them a clean fuel source.
What is GCV in biomass pellets?
GCV stands for Gross Calorific Value — the total heat energy released when a fuel is burned completely. Our biomass pellets offer GCV of 4200–4600 Kcal/kg. Higher GCV means more heat output per kg, which reduces fuel consumption and costs for your boiler.
What is the shelf life of biomass pellets?
Biomass pellets have a shelf life of 6–12 months when stored properly in a dry, covered area away from moisture. Exposure to rain or high humidity can degrade pellet quality by increasing moisture content above the optimal 10% level.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Our minimum order quantity is 25 MT (metric tons). For industrial clients requiring 100+ MT per month, we offer customized annual supply agreements with fixed pricing to protect against market fluctuations.
Do you offer annual supply contracts?

What payment terms do you offer?

Quality & Specifications
What is the ash content of your biomass pellets?
Our biomass pellets have an ash content of less than 2%. Low ash content is critical for industrial boiler efficiency — it reduces slagging, minimizes cleaning downtime, and extends equipment life. We issue ash content certificates with every consignment.
What moisture content can I expect?
Our pellets are manufactured with moisture content below 10%, which is optimal for efficient combustion. Higher moisture content reduces effective calorific value and causes incomplete combustion. We test and certify moisture levels per batch.
What happens if biomass pellets absorb moisture?
If biomass pellets absorb moisture (above 12–15%), they will lose their structural integrity, swell, and crumble back into loose raw dust. This reduces their heating efficiency and can clog automatic screw feeding systems. Proper covered storage off the ground is essential.
Do you provide quality certificates?
Yes. We issue quality test certificates with every consignment showing GCV, ash content, moisture content, sulphur content, and bulk density — tested by an independent laboratory. We also provide mill certificates and delivery documentation.
What pellet sizes are available?
We produce biomass pellets in standard 6mm and 8mm diameters, with lengths of 15–40mm. Custom diameters can be arranged for large volume orders with specific boiler requirements.
How does BBI prevent clinker formation and slagging in boilers?

How does BBI guarantee supply consistency during the monsoon season?
Raw agricultural residue collection becomes challenging during the rains. To guarantee uninterrupted year-round deliveries for our contract clients, Bharat Bio Industries stores massive buffer reserves of dry feedstock inside dry, rainproof warehouses in Ahmedabad. This ensures our pellet mill operates at full capacity even during the peak of monsoon.
What is your delivery lead time?
For Gujarat-based deliveries, we typically dispatch within 2–5 business days of order confirmation and payment. For outstation orders, lead time is 5–10 business days depending on location and transportation availability.
How should biomass pellets be stored after delivery?
Store biomass pellets in a covered, dry area on a raised wooden pallet to prevent moisture absorption from the floor. Keep away from rain exposure and direct sunlight. Properly stored pellets maintain quality for 6–12 months.

Can biomass pellets fully replace coal in industrial boilers?
Yes. Biomass pellets can be used as a direct 1:1 replacement for coal in most industrial boilers with minimal or no modification. However, for furnace oil or gas burners, conversion kits may be required. We can advise on technical compatibility for your specific boiler model.
Does switching to biomass pellets require GPCB (Gujarat Pollution Control Board) approvals?
