How the savings are calculated
The calculator converts your current fuel consumption into an energy-equivalent quantity of biomass pellets using Gross Calorific Value (GCV) ratios. BBI premium pellets are referenced at 4,400 Kcal/kg against typical Indian steam coal (≈4,000 Kcal/kg), furnace oil (≈9,500 Kcal/kg), and LNG (≈12,000 Kcal/kg). Your monthly saving is the difference between what you pay today and the cost of the equivalent pellet tonnage at bulk ex-factory pricing (₹8–₹12/kg from Bakrol, Ahmedabad).
Beyond the direct fuel cost, switching to biomass earns a 5% concessional GST rate (coal attracts 18% plus compensation cess), removes GPCB air-compliance exposure, and cuts net CO₂ emissions to near zero — biomass is a carbon-neutral fuel under India's co-firing policy. Most plants running 100+ MT/month recover their conversion costs within the first year.
